"He gives beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning and peace for despair." - Isaiah 61:3
Many of us are familiar with the phrase "Beauty For Ashes". It evokes a sense of come back, of a phoenix rising from destruction, of finding something good in the midst of so much evil. Throughout history ashes have represented loss and mourning.
God uses this verse to assure us that no destructive force in our lives is greater than his plan to redeem it all.
Beauty For Ashes represents God's redemptive power is seen from the very beginning in His plan for all humanity, many trials come and fall away but God will always take our ashes and give us beauty. Throughout Scripture, ashes signify our human condition. Ashes remind us that trials produce humility, and sacrifices can bring renewal. The ashes of grief, shame and disgrace are exchanged with the reward of an everlasting covenant with God.
What a powerful Bible verse to always remind us that no matter what we face in life, beauty can always come out of every bad situation.
